This presentation begins with "Gidget" (1959) and the transformation of surfing from a counter-cultural lifestyle into a popular fad that soon inspired a genre of music, through dramatic changes in surfing, surf films and music from the 1960s-90s, to recent trends that are at once nostalgic and, I think, aesthetically interesting.
