Brown Bag Lunch for Graduate Students

Event Date:

Event Location:

CISM would like to announce the 2012-13 Graduate Student Brown Bag Lunch Series devoted to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue about music. At this time, we would like to invite any interested graduate students to our first Brown Bag lunch on Friday, November 30th at Noon (Location TBA). Our aim for the CISM Brown Bag series is to provide a forum for graduate students from all disciplines to meet and discuss different disciplinary and methodological approaches to studying music of all traditions and time periods.

At our first meeting, we will discuss our individual goals and issues in studying music in order to plan future topic-specific brown bags for winter and spring quarters and possibly form individual reading groups. Some interest has already been shown in institutional studies of music and issues in teaching music across disciplines. Our hope is that the trajectory of the CISM Brown Bag discussions will be driven by the scholarly motivations of the participants.

If you're interested in attending this lunch, please R.S.V.P to Mike Joiner or Sasha Metcalf by Monday, November 26. Please also email us if you have any questions or would like to know more.
